A few days ago we read an interesting article by José Carlos Mena on portalparados.es, titled “Coworking, a future alternative” (you can read it here). In his article he talks about coworking as a social phenomenon, particularly in Spain. However, we were surprised that, being such an ancient way of working, it hasn’t really been applied until now. An alternative future? We would say that the future is already here; that it was here 4 years ago when we decided to open utopic_US, without knowing exactly that what we were doing was coworking.

“It’s not only about sharing electricity bills, rent, Internet, or paying a fee to form part of the group; it’s about making the most of the synergy that is created between those involved, COLABORATING, EXCHANGING EXPERIENCES, MAKING CONTACTS, HAVING A SPACE WHERE YOU CAN WORK ON YOUR PROJECT AND, AT THE SAME TIME, INTERACTING WITH WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING.”

Indeed, this is what we do at utopic_US and we’re proud of it.

Our community is growing, moving and advancing. It’s all happening thanks to the urgency and the need for professional development in an environment where one feels completely comfortable, where we can offer our best and, without a doubt, share it with ease. For this reason, at utopic_US we will continue to offer our spaces as the perfect place to develop business projects and activities. We will continue to be the meeting point for training and, of course, for the personal and professional growth of each and every one of us who forms part of this community where utopia is synonymous with reality.

Do you remember the ending of Woody Allen’s ‘Annie Hall’? The narrator says:

“I thought of that old joke, y'know, this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says, "Doc, uh, my brother's crazy; he thinks he's a chicken." And the doctor says, "Well, why don't you turn him in?" The guy says, "I would, but I need the eggs."

It’s certain. We ALL need the eggs. Long live coworking and happy new year to everyone!

utopic_US wishes you a 2015 full of work. And lots of it!
